The Best Laid Plans...

Image
Have you ever said to God, "Ok, ok Lord... I get it... I get it!" :)  Haha.  Over the last week or so, the Lord has really been dealing with me about the idea of my plans .  I am a Type A personality.  A planner.  Anal retentive to the tenth degree. Can anyone relate?  I hope so!!  I know I'm not the only freak who has ongoing lists for groceries, to-do's (I have one separate for school, one for adoption stuff, one for "other" life stuff), house projects to be done, etc.  I even had a notebook for my wedding ideas!  (that one freaked Justin out a little bit when we were dating - hahahha) So here's the problem - when it comes to life, God has been telling me that I'm wasting my time making plans.  There are so many phrases out there about planning ahead - "Life is what happens when you're busy making plans" is one many have heard of!  Obviously, I see the merit  in planning ahead and organization.  But I am realizi...

A Father's Love Letter (An Intimate Message From God To You)

(I cannot take credit for this one... this was on a friend's Facebook and can also be found at FathersLoveLetter.com) My Child.... You may not know me, but I know everything about you. Psalm 139:1 I know when you sit down and when you rise up. Psalm 139:2 I am familiar with all your ways. Psalm 139:3 Even the very hairs on your head are numbered. Matthew 10:29-31 For you were made in my image. Genesis 1:27 In me you live and move and have your being. Acts 17:28 For you are my offspring. Acts 17:28 I knew you before you were conceived. Jeremiah 1:4-5 I chose you when I planned creation. Ephesians 1:11-12 You were not a mistake, for all your days are written in my book. Psalm 139:15-16 I determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live. Acts 17:26 You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14 I knit you together in your mother's womb. Psalm 139:13 And brought you forth on the day you were born. Psalm 71:6 I have been misrepr...

My Own Cardboard Testimony

I usually take one night a week to catch up on the week's blogs that I follow.  Tonight I read Kelly's Korner... a fantastic blog.  One of her titles was about "Cardboard Testimonies" which contained a youtube video of cardboard testimonies a church did.  Let's just say when it got to the end, I bawled.  You'll see why.  Here's the link to that blog - http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/2010/02/im-sure-most-of-you-have-seen-this.html .  Be sure to read all the comments - they made me cry too. Whitley (my church) also did their own cardboard testimonies a year or so ago (I wasn't there yet).  I found it on YouTube. It is so good!!   Don't forget to pause the music to the right so you can hear the music in the video. So I will take this opportunity to think about what the front of my cardboard would be... wow, it would definitely be long.  But I'm so glad the story doesn't end there!!  The "back" already is amazing... I still have...

It Takes A Village

Image
Have you ever heard the phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child" ? Can I just tell you - I love my village! My family, my friends... there are so many right now that have gone above and beyond to help Justin and me with our adoption. There was Amy, who took our pictures for our profile and wanted nothing in return. There was Melissa, who went with me to Target to help us make sense of what we would need to buy when the call came.  She's also given me her most cherished recipes for our cookbook. Then there's my mom, who's worked tirelessly night after night on putting in over 250 recipes for a cookbook to help raise funds for us. There's my mom's coworkers and true friends, who, day after day, conjure up some new idea for a fundraiser. There is my brother & his wife, who are expecting their own sweet little baby girl, but still show incredible support in the midst of the craziness of our adoption.  We cannot wait for our little babies to...
