The beginning of the month of weddings!

Image
As many of you know, we have LOTS of weddings to attend in the next month.  I love weddings!  They just make me so happy :)  April 24th kicked off the "Month of Weddings"- our friend Jennifer Raynor married Brandon Smith!  Here are some pics from that beautiful wedding.  The theme was simple, timeless, and classic - colors were black, creams, & pinks.  It was in a little old church with creaky floors and I loved it! My "happy plate" - yummmmy food! One of the table centerpieces Another table centerpiece - love cala lilies! The hubby! Us!  :) Ignore the hair flatness - it had been a long day of wedding-directing. This one just cracks me up. The dress for this wedding - what a great find on sale!

A Christian loving Earth Day - an oxymoron?

Image
So today I would first like to say, Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Lauren!!  She is the best SIL, but also just an awesome friend :) I love you girlie! Now, on this Earth Day, here's a thought for you.... I've often been called (sarcastically) a "tree hugger" by my family & friends.  I think it's important to look after our environment, recycle, use sustainable energy/goods, be ecofriendly, yada yada.  Great example:  It drives me nuts for people to pollute or top off their gas tanks (which also pollutes the air) - Justin always does this & I'm always getting on him. But I have heard that being a Christian and being a Tree Hugger is an oxymoron - how is that so?  Our incredible God made this Earth and all that is within it!  He expects us to make sure that we (like our bodies) take care of his creation, not trash it.  This includes, to me, trying to maximize outcomes while minimizing our footprint on this Earth (i.e., trying to find mor...

Some random thoughts

Image
Just thought I would share the random thoughts that have been through my mind the past few days.  No news on the adoption process, except that the cookbooks are on the way!  They will arrive on my porch April 15th!! Today's daily Bible verse blew my mind.... I don't think I've ever read it before, or maybe just didn't get it before.  Absolutely LOVE it.   1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. Running is my enemy .  I used to think it was my friend.  But I have not been able to breathe well while running (for quite a while, but it's just now affecting my running).  So I used Justin's inhaler before running today & it was a little better.... so maybe I will call Running my "frienemy" . Somewhat related to #2: I h...

How do you spend your "Saturday"?

Excerpt from my favorite book - Max Lucado's He Chose the Nails:   http://bible.oneplace.com/devotionals/11570632/ I thought I would share with you this amazing section of my favorite book because of its timeliness.  Not only is it timely for the Easter season, but also for the season in my life (and many of yours)! How do you spend your "Saturday"??  Love it when God steps on my toes.
