A Name, A Crib, & a Homestudy

Image
Soooo.  We've made some progress on the baby preparation!  I'll start with the homestudy - we got our official homestudy "results" in the mail today.  Despite a few minor errors - somehow, they put down that I was into horseback riding as a child..... ummmm noooo..... - it means that we are APPROVED officially to adopt our Oklahoma Darling!  And this just makes it one step closer to final.  I do recommend Nathanson Adoption Services for the homestudy if possible!  They are nice & professional, and allow you to go at your own pace. Another piece of progress.... as you know, we had to look at purchasing a new crib since ours went on the recall list :(  Some of you had asked about us getting a refund... unfortunately, since it was bought off of Craigslist, a refund was not in the cards.  But on the bright side - I was NOT bananas about that crib anyways, and I wanted this one instead...  So I found it on Amazon on the cheap!!, and because...

the fiery furnace

17 "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king.  18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."  Daniel 3:17-18 We've all heard the story of Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego (yep, I had to look those up to check the spelling... you know me!) in the fiery furnace.  (On a side note... I bet you used to say "Abend-ago" like me haha).  Here's a refresher if you don't remember the story: Because they believed in only one God and wouldn't bow to him, King Nebuchadnezzar had his bodyguards (my words of course) throw the 3 guys in a furnace to be burned.  Toasty!  Right?  ... Nope. But they were not at all worried... see the verse at the top... they said, "We know our God will bring us out unscathed... but even if He doesn't we will still not lose our faith in Hi...

Crib Woes

We have sad news.... our crib (see where we brought it home here ) has been recalled!  :(  Here's the link to the recall info.   (BOOOOO....) So shopping we must go... again!  We were planning on getting a new crib anyways, since this one was a little ~wobbly~.  But instead of selling the old one, now I guess we'll have to trash it or something.  Anyone have any ideas what to do with a crib that's on the recall list???

Ellie and the Cake

Image
Little Miss Ellie is slated to arrive On July 4th or it could be 5! So we stopped to shower baby Ellie with love, with diapers, and highchairs, and more clothes than we can speak of! Aunt Tara was honored to be asked to bake A square concoction of Granny's recipe for cake. So bake I did, and frosting from scratch arose, and cursed the day a square cake I chose! But on to the fondant I knew not how to use, But give up - never!  I absolutely refused! Baby Ellie deserved the cutest and glammest of cakes, So I bought the Duff stuff from Michael's for the fondant he makes. White fondant with added coloring of yellow, brown, and green, With the pre-made black fondant, It was the prettiest I'd seen! Rolled out and pressed and left overnight, The next day it was ready for attachment - oh what a fright! Toothpicks were helpful to keep it in place, And inspiration by my side I made quite a haste. And with prayer & luck, Miss Ellie's cake was soon done, And boy was the family...

Snips, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails

So, we found out the sex of Little McLamb yesterday.  For those of you who haven't been following me on Facebook this morning...... It's a BOY!! We are over the moon and super duper excited!!  :)  And we wanted to let our families know in a special way - we wracked our brains for hours & googled it, to no avail.  Since I had some icing left over from another cake I did (post about that coming soon), I decided to make cupcakes (funfetti of course).  In one cupcake, we placed 6 blue skittles (the "Tropical Skittles" brand). (It's the one in the middle) And we invited all our family members over (except for Justin's mom, who lives 4 hrs away & couldn't make it... for her, we called her & had her join us on iChat [a Mac application that is similar to Skype].  We held up two notecards - one blue with "boy" written on it, and one pink with "girl" written on it... we kept teasing her by holding up one or the other - we were ge...
