Nursery Decorating

Anyone who knows me knows that I love love LOVE to decorate my home.  I really should have been some kind of interior designer/event planner, seeing as that is what gets my blood really pumping!  Over the years my tastes have changed, so no doubt when I look back at the nursery we'll create for our little one, I will think, "I should have chosen a different color _______" or whatever.  But for now, I am getting lots of ideas from great websites and we are getting excited about our Little McLamb's nursery!  Here are some inspirational pictures from HGTV's Rate My Space, one of my favorite blogs (Young House Love), and other places.  I'll tell you what I love about each photo.
What I love:  The quiet simplicity.  The blue walls.  The initial/name over the crib.  One of my favs overall.

What I love:  The mural.  I'm not usually a mural girl, but I'm loving this one.

What I love:  Everything!  The wall color.  The self-made art above the changing table.  The crib.  The bedding!

What I love:  The name on the wall - not that talented however :)  The rug.  Although Justin has officially vetoed any animal prints :( oh well.

What I love:  The framed out initial above the crib.  The simplicity.  Not a fan of the pink wall however.

What I love:  The green mirror!!  The crib <3.  The green wall color.  This one's from Young House Love.

What I love:  The painted crib.  The "mobile".

What I love:  Again, the painted crib & mobile.  Not a fan of the short curtains (yuck).

What I love:  The bright colors (the wall, the yellow chair and bedding) & the whole modern look.

What I love:  Just about everything.  Who would've thought to do a yellow crib?!  Love it!

So.  Now that you've seen that, you may remember that we have already purchased our crib... HOWEVER.  ....We are going to probably sell it & purchase a new one.  The one we bought off Craigslist is beautiful, but #1- it's not very sturdy and #2- almost all drop-side cribs are being recalled.  Our particular model # has not been recalled yet, but I'm thinking it's only a matter of time!  I think I may have found one on Babies-R-Us... it's modern yet still traditional-looking:
It's just a bit dark.... would love to have it a touch lighter....

And we've already started painting the walls blue (did you catch on while looking above that I like blue walls??).  And if you couldn't remember, here is a pic of our bedding (which I LOVE, except not crazy about the bedskirt - I want something with less ruffle and more clean lines, so I will probably be making one):

I know whatever I choose, my baby will not care - but it totally wouldn't be me if I didn't decorate Little McLamb's nursery "to the nines" :)  Now, if I can just pull all of this together into one cohesive room, we'll be in business.  I will be posting more play-by-play blogs about the nursery as updates become available :)  Oh, and I'm taking suggestions in case you love to design/decorate too!

  4. Awww, those are great, Tara! You are giving me major baby fever, missy...or maybe just nursery decorating fever! ;-) I let Eddie pick the bedding for Evan so I get to choose for the next one. I am usually a fan of the more elegant and old fashioned nursery decor, but you are seriously making me consider more modern styles here. I am glad you are having fun with all of this!!!
