Opportunities
Just wanted to update all of you on the latest for the adoption & life in general... we have been so busy!! Tara has written about 4 papers in a week, had a skills checkoff in Greenville, and has been working on an article to be published in a NP journal (hopefully!). Justin has been busy at work, as well as doing some school things (he goes to Greenville for a class each Monday night)...he's also started running & working out with me! I tell ya, when Justin puts his mind to doing something, he throws himself at it!! He's lost over 10 lbs! Wish I had a picture to show you his skinny little face :)
As far as the adoption goes, I've been playing phone tag with the agency that will be doing our home study. I did find out that there will be 3 visits, but I've been told not to freak.... ok, so I'm not freaking.... ha. right. I think you all know me better than that. Of course, I have made a list of things to fix or spruce up before the visit.
And lastly, over the last couple of months, we have been presented with 4 birthmother opportunities! We have turned down 2. Those were mostly due to their desire for a true "open" adoption - we are just not willing to have yearly visits, or have them know where we live. We truly respect their decision to give life to their child, but we don't want to be constantly reminded that this is not "our child." So that's those 2.
The other 2 seemed very promising, and we turned in our profile to those. One in Oklahoma, one in Kansas. (By the way, those profiles are crazy expensive to print, because they are full color, with a backing and a spiral binder and all - $25 for one print!!). Anyway, unfortunately they did not pick us. It is easy (and oh so true) that this just means it's not meant to be. That God just hasn't allowed us to meet our baby's mommy yet. And we're ok with that. But we can't lie and say it's also not easy to get discouraged and take it personally - "What's wrong with us?" "What did the chosen couple have that we didn't?". Thankfully, our God is one who knows all things. We've gotta remember my favorite verse from my childhood, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,6. I know the Lord is taking care of our baby in some mommy's belly right now, and he will introduce us to them when the time is right.
Cookbooks are on the production line as we speak!! A total of 490 recipes!! Be ready to buy one - they should be shipping to us within a few weeks! My mom has been testing all of the recipes out and let me tell you, IT IS 'DA BOMB :) haha. We really appreciate everyone's support (whether it be financially or with your prayers) and we will let you know if anything changes!
We are ready to meet our sweet little angel!!
Love,
Tara,
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hear more about the agency that you are going through. Are they based in NC? And obviously they work outside of NC.
Send me an email with your email address (Kitzers3@msn.com) that way we can talk more about it.
And yes, God has that perfect baby for you...praying that his peace would be all sufficient.
Christie
You are so awesome--both of you. I am fervently praying for your adoption and fully believe God has an amazing plan for you two and your baby!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to buy the recipe book either! I need all the help I can get in the kitchen when it comes to anything but baking.
Let me know if we can help in any way! :)
