A Name, A Crib, & a Homestudy

Soooo.  We've made some progress on the baby preparation!  I'll start with the homestudy - we got our official homestudy "results" in the mail today.  Despite a few minor errors - somehow, they put down that I was into horseback riding as a child..... ummmm noooo..... - it means that we are APPROVED officially to adopt our Oklahoma Darling!  And this just makes it one step closer to final.  I do recommend Nathanson Adoption Services for the homestudy if possible!  They are nice & professional, and allow you to go at your own pace.

Another piece of progress.... as you know, we had to look at purchasing a new crib since ours went on the recall list :(  Some of you had asked about us getting a refund... unfortunately, since it was bought off of Craigslist, a refund was not in the cards.  But on the bright side - I was NOT bananas about that crib anyways, and I wanted this one instead...
So I found it on Amazon on the cheap!!, and because my super-shopping-savvy hubby is some kind of special member on Amazon, we got FREE 2-day shipping!  So it will be here by Friday!  WOOP WOOP!  Now I just gotta figure out what to do with the old one...... any ideas?!

Lastly, and most importantly, we FINALLY figured out our baby boy's name.  You might remember another post where I listed all the names we were considering for Little McLamb.  Well, we just couldn't agree decide on a name between Jack, Corbett, or Brady.  So we took that as a sign to go in a different direction.  And different we did!  We had played with the first name that we chose before, but just all of a sudden it truly felt "right".  ... So without further ado, we are excited to announce our Oklahoma Darling's name is...

Zane Michael McLamb

Michael is Justin's first name, and just flows so well with Zane & McLamb.
Zane is actually the name of an actor on TV, and we think that it's unique but not weird, and kind of modern and strong.  And best of all, the meaning of Zane fit this sweet baby to a T... "God is gracious".  Because we want to proclaim God's goodness through the name of the child who has become a direct gift from Him!

  1. Give it to your Mom to use when the babes are visiting Grandma. I know about the recall, but I am positive it will be perfectly safe. Just get her a baby monitor to use when they are napping. They recall these things alot, but most of the time, it is an accident...those do happen but are rare! Just be an attentive parent and everything will be peachy! ;-)

And check out the Angelcare monitor system, please! I promise, it will provide you so much peace of mind! I tell so many people about this, but nobody listens! It is frustrating. People pay up the wazoo for crib bedding and "pretty" things but won't fork over a little change for safety! Doesn't make sense to me! This monitor system is more than just sound because let's face it, the worst things happen when babies are QUIET! It is a sensor pad that is put under baby's crib mattress and detects even the smallest movement of baby breathing. If baby stops breathing, it will sound the alarm. I even used it in the bassinet when Evan was right beside our bed! :-)

  2. Love the name and the crib! Delighted to meet you today. I hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit to get to know you better. This looks like a delightful place to slip off my shoes and splash around.

    Splashin,
    Sara

  4. I really like that cool tree graphic...very neat.

That crib looks really cool, and if I could have that room, I totally would.

Our agency did our homestudy, but I heard lots of good things about the Nathanson people from a friend using the same info svs as you. And their baby came from Oklahoma too! I wonder if that is the same agency as well? Curious. :)

  5. Yay love it! And I think the meanings are just as important-if not more important-as the way it looks/sounds
