Caden Lane Giveaway Entry

Image
Hi all!  I am in tee-total L.O.V.E. with the Caden Lane collection for nursery/baby!  And this was BEFORE one of my fav. blogs (Project Nursery) was announcing a $2000 giveaway in Caden Lane products!!  Woo HOO. :)  See, here's the evidene I was a Caden-Lane-Lover prior to Proj. Nsy started singing their praises- one of their sets was one my inspirations pieces for Zane's nursery HERE . Anyway, if I had to choose something, I love love love their Modern Vintage collection, and am looking for a hip changing pad cover.  Here's 3 from there that I am digging: So here's hoping I win... because the winner also receives a $1000 gift certificate for flying with Southwest Airlines, and Lord knows we need that for Oklahoma in November!! :)

Oklahoma, here we come!

Ever feel like you're making decisions about something that will affect you for the rest of your life?!  Doesn't it seem kind of like you're living in a dream?  Well, last week we purchased our plane tickets, and booked a hotel and rental car for our trip to Oklahoma to meet T. (our birthmom).  It truly is surreal.  I am excited and nervous and worried and happy! :)  I mean, I know in my heart that this meeting will help us to "seal the deal" as we see each other, get to interact face-to-face, and actually see her baby belly (with little Zane inside!).  But I also am preparing myself for the awkwardness that the meeting will bring too.  How do you say, "Thanks for giving me your baby" in a tactful way??!!  We don't want to say anything to turn her off, obviously, but we want to be real and transparent. We'll be flying out on Thursday August 12th, and then meeting with the attorney on Friday (Aug. 13th - our 5-year anniversary!!) at his office w...

First Glimpses into the Rest of Our Lives

Image
As promised, here are the 3D ultrasound pics of our sweet little man!  For those of you seeing the blog for the first time, we are adopting a newborn (due in November) from Oklahoma (we're in NC)... after years of struggling with infertility we have been blessed so tremendously and cannot wait to see what else God has in store for us!

New Header, New Name

Image
Hi guys!  I've been wanting a different name for the blog for sometime (I mean, really, how creative is it to make the title of your blog your last name?? hehe)... so tonight I decided on "Three Little Birds" (...and you're saying, "thank you Captain Obvious"...).  I settled on this title for several reasons: Three Little Birds is the name of my all-time favorite song by my all-time favorite artist, Bob Marley! Soon, our little "nest" will have 3 instead of just 2!  Woo to the hoo. :) I love watching the birds come visit my bird feeder.  But I have no clue what kind they are or anything... I'm not that dorky ;) haha (although I obviously recognize cardinals- duh) I have been thinking about doing something with birds in the nursery for a little while ... before we knew we were having a boy.  Before I got a letter in the mail from my aunt with a little blue feather "because she just felt led by the Lord to include it".  Before I hav...

To Paint or Not to Paint??

Image
So I am at a nursery dilemma.  Well a few actually.  But tonight I want to ask my bloggy friends their opinion... I got a great quality vintage dresser today for the nursery but I am thinking maybe I should paint it white. What do you all think?  The crib is a similar (but not matching) brown.  I'm afraid it might be a bit heavy for the room.  The curtains will be white, so cream is out as an option.  Here's a pic of the dresser in the room beside the crib.  Forgive the iPhone poor quality of the photo for a minute and look at the two browns. :) Loving to hear from you guys!  Can't wait to reveal the final project!

Bridal Registry Must-Haves

Image
And you thought this blog was only going to be about adoption! :) haha.  Sorry if you're disappointed.  But sometimes we do have lives outside of the adoption - if we didn't we'd go crazy! Anyway, I am a big wedding fanatic.  Like... freak.  HA!  I do love weddings.  And since several of my friends and/or family are going to be getting married in the next few months, I thought I'd do a post on something that is on my mind from time to time. Married girlies, have you been using an item in your home & thought to yourself, "Self, someone should have told me to register for this!  I didn't know I would use this so much!"  No?  Well I do!  Haha.  So, here's a list of those things that those bridal magazines don't tell you to register for, but are much more essential than juicers and china.  Believe me girls... you REALLY don't need that many towels & washcloths for your guest bathroom! So here it is, the bridal registr...

Quickie

Image
Got your attention with the subject line?!  Ha ha! :)  Just a quick little post to update everyone on the adoption front, school front, etc. Our birthmom is 23 weeks & 4 days along!  We got the 3D ultrasound pics from her via email today.  I may be partial, but HE IS GORGEOUS!!  I will try & post those 3D's soon.  Let's just say I've not gotten very emotional or attached until tonight... tonight I found myself crying tears of joy as I saw my little man for the first time. I have one more day of clinical and then I am officially DONE with NP School.  Then the only other obstacle is the boards (certification exam)... I CAN DO IT!!!  :) So excited to start practicing - doing a job that I feel called to do, and loving it!  I think I've got a job lined up, but no official contract yet, so I will hold off on announcing that one until I know for sure ;) We have been slowly (SLOOOOWLLLY) working on our backyard.  We're putting up a...

Ellie makes her appearance!

Image
Welcome to the world, Ellie! My little niece, Ellisyn Brooks, arrived July 7, 2010 at 4:41pm, weighing at 7 lbs, 0 oz.  Yep, that's right 7/7 and 7 lbs! :)  She is absolutely gorgeous, breath-taking, and perfect!

**URGENT Prayer Requests**

Image
I know I have some prayer sisters reading this blog.  And although I don't have a ton of followers, those of you that read this can pray!  And you can pass it along to pray! Today, we received word that a little girl at our church, Olivia, has been diagnosed with Burkitt's Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma - it is in her neck, stomach, & lungs.  We don't know much more, and tests are being done as we speak, but this little girl needs prayer! We also have had 2 other little girls hospitalized tonight from our church!  One is Madison, who has had a ruptured appendix.  The other is Gabby, who started acting "out of character" and lethargic today while on family vacation - they don't know what is wrong with her yet. Please join me & my church family as we pray tonight for these 3 little girls.  We know that Jesus knows every single hair on their heads, and by His stripes they are healed!!!  Tell Satan he cannot have our church's children!! Thanks so m...
