Quickie

Got your attention with the subject line?!  Ha ha! :)  Just a quick little post to update everyone on the adoption front, school front, etc.

Our birthmom is 23 weeks & 4 days along!  We got the 3D ultrasound pics from her via email today.  I may be partial, but HE IS GORGEOUS!!  I will try & post those 3D's soon.  Let's just say I've not gotten very emotional or attached until tonight... tonight I found myself crying tears of joy as I saw my little man for the first time.

I have one more day of clinical and then I am officially DONE with NP School.  Then the only other obstacle is the boards (certification exam)... I CAN DO IT!!!  :) So excited to start practicing - doing a job that I feel called to do, and loving it!  I think I've got a job lined up, but no official contract yet, so I will hold off on announcing that one until I know for sure ;)

We have been slowly (SLOOOOWLLLY) working on our backyard.  We're putting up a retaining wall around the patio.  Will also be posting pics of this pain-in-the-butt project - it is going to be fabuloso!!

And lastly, I'm working slowly on the nursery - it's going to be a mix of modern/contemporary/traditional design.  I'm loving what's coming along.  Bought some gorgeous white material for the curtains and crib skirt, also found a nice roman shade (for dirrrt cheap), wall art, etc.  Pics are coming!!

Still selling cookbooks to help offset the costs of the adoption.  They're $15 and have sold like HOTCAKES.  So far, about 700 have been sold.  Please contact me or comment below if you'd like for me to mail one.  Also still selling Adoption Fit Bands (see first sidebar item on the right)... thanks Erin at Worthy of the Prize for allowing us to be a part of this great program!

    You have so many awesome things going on right now, and I am so happy for you! That is such a huge accomplishment to nearly be done with NP school! And your pretty baby... it's all just awesome!

    You looked GREAT on stage at church this weekend, by the way! Loved your hair.

My eyes are heavy with the haze of anesthesia as I feel the weight of a warm post-op blanket cover my body. I’m suddenly aware of the pain. And then my eyes shoot open and I slur with a heavy tongue and a raspy voice to my husband there at my bedside in the sterile recovery room, “Is it over?! What did he say?!” There’s a pause and a sigh and I suddenly feel a weight in that moment, you know that heaviness of a moment that you know will change your path from here on out. “Babe, he said there’s nothing he could do…” Hot tears stream down my cheeks and the pain of a surgery meant to pave the path towards bringing life into this world is now a dead end. It was my 4th surgery to restore order to my uterus and ovaries, which were a tangled mess of endometriosis & scar tissue from a condition known as Asherman’s Syndrome.
