Earl

Image
What kind of name is Earl?  A southern one of course! :) And he's about to wreak havoc on my Labor Day weekend plans.  Who's Earl, you ask?? Notice where NC is.  See where the little black line on the left, indicating where the left side of the storm will be?  Yeah... that's where I live.  :)  Oh yeah, and see the blue section of NC (you know, where the hurricane's eye will hit?)?  Yeah... that's where I'm supposed to be this weekend. Bad Earl!  Bad, bad Earl!  Well hopefully he will miss us entirely, but not looking that way.  Expected landfall is Thursday evening.  And guess who has to go into work on Friday a.m. at 0700?  You guessed it.  ME.  And no, I can't just call & say I won't be there... I'm a nurse, which means I have to be there regardless of a Category 4 Hurricane swirling around my house at the time.  Just. stinkin'. lovely. Earl, Earl, go away... come again another day... On next thoug...

Love you guys!!

OKC: The other parts of the trip :)

Image
The flight down to OKC was fine, no problems.  This is the very pretty (but very small Will Rogers Airport)... We got our rental car in record time.  We knew this was going all too well for our luck with travel... and we confirmed our suspicions when we got to the hotel we booked.  We wanted to try out a hotel with a kitchen and living area that might be good for caring for a newborn for a week (when we return in Nov.).  This was one of the only ones I could find on the Internet.  Needless to say, it was dirty... And it was in a scary part of town... can anyone say "ghetto"???  Yikes!  I actually took pictures of the gross hotel but I'm too lazy to go download them to my mac :) So we stayed one night and then checked out early & found another hotel, whose room was smaller but much more updated, cleaner, and nicer!  We think this 2nd one will fit the bill nicely when it comes time to take our little man back to the hotel for a week of OK bl...

Meeting the birthmom

Image
Hi everyone!  We are insanely busy this week, but I know everyone has been waiting patiently for an update on our meeting with T.  So I will take just a couple minutes out to share with you how it went.  The short story is that it went great! :)  Here we are at the airport waiting to board for OKC!! We met up with her on Friday at the lawyer's office - she was running late - she overslept & finally got there an hour late! :( OH well, it was worth it when we saw her face (and her belly!) for the first time! :)  We shook hands at first, but I immediately pulled her in for a hug.  It just felt like the right thing, like many of you have said.  She brought with her her best friend/roommate.  Glad she came - she helped fill the awkward silences at times and was very cheerful and bubbly.  We went to lunch afterwards for about an hour and a half, two hours.  T. looks just great, healthy, and is a beautiful girl.  She filled us in o...

Oklahoma bound & Fundraisers

Image
Well this will be a very quick post... Just wanted to touch base before we head out tomorrow morning for one of the biggest adventures of our married life :)  I'm not dramatic am I?  hehe.  Well we are going to Oklahoma tomorrow, meeting little Zane's birthmom, and seeing a little bit of OKC too.  Say some prayers for us - specifically that she will feel more at peace and confident in her decision following our visit! :) On a different note, I'm truly & utterly amazed at God's provision.  Justin & I talked for about an hour last night - just about how good God is.  How it feels like not only is he cheering us on as we run this race, but it feels like he's changing the winds to blow with us & push us along faster!  For one, as you may or may not know, Worthy of the Prize is selling Chosen Child Adoption items - we are one of their 10 featured adoption couples!  This means that a certain percentage of all sales from the Chosen Child c...
