Bargains & Bumpers
Well, I know we have a few more months but I went ahead & took the liberty of bargain hunting for cribs & nursery bedding. Hey, we need the essentials for when the call comes, right? PS - Average time for adoptions right now are about 4 months for our liaison company (Adoption Information Services) - YIKES! We told them "not until after Tara graduates" ... but really, if the call comes, we want to be ready!
So anyway, we ended up finding an amazing deal on a crib on Craigslist. Disclaimer: Made sure it wasn't on the recall list & that it was new & safe...chill out people!! ;) Here's Justin setting it up!
And then I've been eyeing this nursery bedding set for a little while on jcpenney.com. It went on sale for only a couple days after Christmas & - of course - I couldn't pass it up (since -- it was on sale! hello!). It's no longer on sale so I am happy I got it. It came in today & I think it's beautiful & perfect for either a boy or girl. Now to choose paint colors. I'm thinking a light (Tiffany & Co.) blue or a warm tan/beige (like caramel color). What do you guys think?
Ok, now all you moms - how in the world are these crazy bumper ties supposed to go?? Does this look right?? Does the bumper tie go OVER or UNDER the drop side? Lordy, I have no clue. haha! I'm afraid I'm gonna be one of those moms that says, "Hey is this the front of the diaper or the back?!?!"
On another note, school is back in full swing. Thankfully, I am at a great clinical site this semester - even if the director of the program at ECU is my PRECEPTOR!! It's ok, he's a great teacher & super smart. I'm so ready to be done!!!
So I was thinking how this relates to Christ. I know, strange connection, but you'll see it in a minute... We walk through life, and there's this great big God out there that rules the universe and all that good stuff. He allows stars to be created & to be destroyed... he even allows earthquakes like we've seen in Haiti (not that I for once think he does it out of anger or justice or anything like that.... some things God does we'll never understand til we reach Heaven). Anyway, this big ol' God makes us sometimes feel like he's ... well... far away (like the "Director of the program at ECU"). But if we begin to put ourselves at his feet and allow Him to teach us & mold us through His Son, Jesus Christ, we realize he's not only God of the universe, but Lord of my heart. He's big enough to solve the world's problems... big enough to cause miracles like healing and childbirth to take place... but he's intimate enough to know my heart and its sorrows and its joys. He's intimate enough to show "little ol' me" His ways ... sometimes I might not understand them, but in due time, we will "graduate" from this life and realize God can be both strong&mighty and also very personal.
Love,
Tara

ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty and chic bedding set! Don't stress about the small things like whether you tied the bumper on right, K? You will be a "fantabulous" mother!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about things connecting--God led me to the ICU which led me to you who led me to Whitley and back to God. I never thought when I started in the unit I would find a church I feel SO excited about joining. Who knew? Oh yeah, HE knew :-D You and Justin are going to be awesome parents--don't stress about the small stuff
