All Things Simple

I am convinced that we need to treasure and focus on the little things in life.  Savor each moment, because we never know when it will be our last.  So - not related to anything "adoption" - I'd like to list the little things that I may sometimes overlook but need to remember to cherish - it's in the simple things of life that joy or peace can be found.  Here's my list.  I may add more as I think of them!  Feel free to add yours!!
My Simple Things List
  • Watching my husband sleep
  • Having my little doggie cuddle up to me
  • The smell of freshly-cut grass (isn't that one on everyone's list?)
  • The feel of freshly washed high-count thread sheets
  • The feeling of warm sunshine on my skin
  • Chapstick - the essential.
  • Hearing children giggle.
  • Knowing "in my bones" what God's plan/will is for a certain situation
  • Laughing so hard my belly hurts!
  • Kissing my husband when he's just shaved :)
  • Making a friend laugh really hard
  • Writing a little note of encouragement or appreciation to someone
  • Getting a letter in the mail - this is a lost art & not done enough these days
  • Looking at old pictures of my grandparents "in their prime"
  • A good hair day!
  • Cinnamon toast
  • Finding the PERFECT pair of shoes & finding out they're on clearance - wooohooo
  • Birds chirping on a spring day
  • Waves crashing at the beach
  • Discovering a Bible passage that totally speaks to you in a new and refreshing way
  • A really good cheeseburger
  • Putting on clothes straight out of the dryer on a cold morning
  • A sense of accomplishment
  • Surprise parties.  Or surprises in general.  Justin always wants to ruin my surprises. :)
  • Feeling pretty
  • Dancing without abandon
  • Hearing a song on the radio from my high school days - heard some old Sheryl Crow today & it made my day
  • Digging my toes in the warm beach sand
  • Laying my head on my hubby's chest and hearing his heart beat
  • The overwhelming, peaceful feeling of God's presence
What would be on your list?

  1. I love hearing ol' songs from high school days! I love when anything by Gin Blossoms comes on the radio! ;-)

  2. Love your list, we are the SAME! Although I would probably add an ice cream cone on a hot day. Leave it to me to add food to the list... haha

  3. Haha! I had the cheeseburger! :) I thought of another one today... icy orange juice (like the kind they used to have in elementary school)

  4. Tara,

I wanted to stop by your page and say, "Thanks for finding me!!!" Isn't it great to find people (not too far away) that are going through the exact same things in life! God blesses us with friends, even on the internet!!

I have yet to read through your whole "story" (your page is beautiful, by the way! I may need you to spruce mine up ;)) But, I want you to know that I'm praying for you on this journey!!

Looking forward to what God has in store for both of us!
