10.10.10 would have been a great birthday!
Day 5 in OKC. And we thought we were going to have a baby today! But first things first, let me tell you about our day.
We heard from T. about 11:30 and made plans for lunch about 12:30 at a restaurant about 15 minutes from our hotel. So I went running to relieve some stress (haven't been able to do that since we got here due to a pretty bad cold/bronchitis, which is getting better slowly) - so glad I went for that run!!! I miss it, plus I'm gaining weight because all I've done is stuff my face since we got here!! HA! Plus it is such a good stress reliever.
We met up with T. and the birthfather's mom (we'll call her "V.") around 12:30 at a little mom-and-pop's home-cookin' kind of restaurant. It was really good!! Long story short, V. said she felt better after meeting us. She wanted to make sure we were going to tell him he was adopted ("yes, from day one!"), that he has a brother here in OKC ("yes, when he's able to understand"), and that she wanted to be able to get the updates on how he's doing (kindergarten, milestones, etc). They filled us in for over an hour about the birthfather. And without going into every detail, let's just suffice it to say this baby is going to be SAFER with us. The BF is making poor choices in his life right now, and even his mother says "He is a lost soul". We pray for him, that he will come to know Christ and his redemption. But we also pray that until then, he will just choose to stay away from this situation (he's not in prison yet). His instability and drug use could cause some drama if he decides to come to the hospital. BUT, we are praying safety and calm over the labor, birth, and the time in the hospital for T., for us, and especially for Baby Zane. That is what we want you to pray for tonight as well. God to keep the birthfather away from the hospital and us! Not that we are afraid, because we know that God has a hedge around us and the baby, and we know nothing will happen to us. But this is already a stressful enough situation without throwing his issues into the mix.
On another note, T. looked great today, and said we could go with her to the doctor's appointment on Tuesday. She is starting to have pre-eclampsia, with her latest BP being 133/110 (the best she could remember), so they are having her turn in urine samples to check for proteins (I believe this is correct; see, I'm not totally forgetting my L&D clinicals!! haha). She is not having any swelling or contractions today.
We hadn't been back at the hotel but maybe 20 minutes when she frantically called us and thought her water had broken!! We all were in a frenzy but I did remember that a lot of times, it is just bladder leaking. So we did get things together, and waited for her to call us back but I had a feeling that it was just urine :) And it was. :( Justin was really disappointed but that's ok. We know the baby will come when the time is just right.
On another positive note, we got to Skype with my brother & his wife today - we are very close with them! And of course, we got to see my neice Ellisyn - she is such a cutie and like a ray of sunshine... she just lifted our spirits even more! :)
Wanted to leave you with a song that has helped me in the past with tough times. I love it so much! While getting ready for the meeting today, it came on my Pandora radio (never heard this song on the radio before!!! - was that not a God-thing or what?!). I felt God telling me, as the words came up "Grace like rain, now flowing down", that God was raining his grace and mercy over us, and covering us with his love as we prepared for this meeting. He has a way of letting us know that He's right there. Isn't he amazing? Wanted to leave you this song so you can enjoy it as well.
Make sure you pause the music player at the bottom right of the blog first.
Love you all bunches!!!

This post sounds so much more optimistic or maybe I feel so much more optimistic after reading it.
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you about weight gain and feeding the face. I have done it ever since I started the international adoption process.
I have really enjoyed reading about your journey. You have GOT to read a book called "Adopted for Life" (if you haven't already). You are such agents of Christ! I am grateful to get to go before the throne of God in prayer for you in this journey.
