Enough energy & room for Christmas decorating...

I have been wanting to decorate for the holidays for a couple weeks now, but consistently run out of time every. single. day. Usually I go all out for Christmas in my home, inside & out, but with little man, it's different this year. I just want to spend my time with him instead :) I've come to realize that most of what we do in our homes is really just fanfare... done to impress others... to get an oooh or an ahhh. At least that is what it has been for me in the past. I have found myself this year not so much fighting my Martha Stewart/Eddie Ross OCD decorating self, but basically just not caring as much! haha!

Here is the tree from last year...

But now I am starting to get an inkling for some Christmas spirit around here, especially since we attended our first Christmas cantata together as a family today at our previous church where we still have many friends.  Wasn't Zane just too handsome??

The plan was to go get a tree this afternoon... for the last 3-4 years, we've gotten a real tree for several reasons.  One, we love the smell and feel of a real tree.  Two, because the first year we were married, we got a beautiful, full pre-lit artificial tree and Abby (still being a puppy) chewed through an entire lower branch of lights :)  So that tree still sits in our attic... Not just b/c of that because we could just put that section to the back but also because our living room is just SO. TINY.  We were space-challenged prior to purchasing a sectional couch and a new recliner ("for the baby!" Justin exclaimed).  See, here's a good pic of our living room (and lack of space for a good-sized tree) taken during our newborn pictures...

But I have gotten away from the story... anyway we were going to pick out a tree today.  Ran into the problem of not having a truck or trailer, plus it's all FREEZING outside and all warm inside, and we got cozy snuggling with Zaney Waney and just got lazy :)

But I started thinking about maybe working a slim tree this year!  Don't think I'll get one, because they AIN'T cheap!  But it was a nice thought.  Unless someone knows of a pretty one for a good deal.  The cheap ones are bare and only have like 100 lights.  But here are some of my favs I found online tonight.

So here's what I did do for Christmas decorating today - I put the wreath on the front door! :) And besides the tree, we might not do much more than that this year.  Just don't have enough time in the day, energy in my body, or care in my heart.  And I think that that's just alright.  I know Justin is ok with it.  HAHA!

Will post pics of Zane first Christmas tree when able :)  for now, here we are in his first snow!
