A Lighter Post! Hooray! And an appointment

Thought I would write something a little lighter tonight... this blog's gotten kind of heavy lately :).  Don't worry, an adoption update is at the end.

So here are some pics of our trip so far.  We haven't taken a whole lot, but we'll try to take more so as to be able to document this journey for the baby!  Sorry for the iPhone quality pics.
Visiting the OKC National Memorial (OKC Bombing Site)

Skyping with Jared, Justin's brother, and getting to see my little Abby!!!  :)  That's grandmama (Justin's mom) in the little lower box with us.

My mom in our hotel room

Me... yucky. :)

The handsome hubby.

Our fireplace in the hotel room... and some of our luggage packed & ready after a false alarm from T!  But notice the awesome arrangement of Thirty-One products ;)  That's the City Skirt Purse, Organizing Utility Tote, and the Hostess Exclusive Rolling Tote!!  And the Super Soft baby blanket on the coffee table, also from 31!
The Steak & Catfish Barn close to Edmond, OK.  Another Man Vs. Food visit for Justin.  It was yummy, don't let the shady exterior fool you!!

The BEST Mexican food in OKC!  We met Abel, the owner, who treated us to free sopapillas & churros (dessert).  What a nice guy!  Unbelievable salsa & tacos calvillos!!!!!

Out to eat at Nonna's in Bricktown for my mama's birthday dinner.

Out to eat at Tokyo Japan, a sushi restaurant... he & his mom had sushi, me & mama had fried chicken!  HA!

Unsure if this was a hotel or restaurant or what... but it's apparently owned by my daddy!!  Haha.

Also, just a quick update on the adoption... we went with t. to her doctor's appointment today!  It went good, and I was allowed to be in the room with her, which gave us a good amount of time to just talk, and she really opened up to me about her life.  I am convinced now of the reason God brought us here so early... some how, some way, God wants to use us to make a difference in T.'s life.  I hope I can live up to the calling.

Anyhoo, she's made little to no progression - still 2-3cm dilated and 70% effaced at almost 38 weeks.  However, if the baby hasn't come by Oct. 29th, they will induce her starting at midnight on 10/29/10! :)  We are still praying for a baby earlier than that (since we are still living in a hotel room and going crazy with boredom) but it's all in God's perfect timing.

The hotel staff are just incredible here.  Word has spread among them regarding why we're here, and they are taking excellent care of us!  They ask each & every day if the baby is here yet.  They never forget!  The staff even signed a card for us and gave us two outfits for Zane!!  They are so cute, and both have meaning according to the front desk clerk & night manager.  One is red & black for NC State and also for Oklahoma University and the other is carolina blue colors, which is for UNC!  We'll just forgive them for that last slip up :)  (hint: we are not UNC fans at all but we love the outfit).

Lots of you love to hear how you can specifically pray for us & our situation here.  Here are some specific things to include when remembering us in the next few weeks:
  • Safety for us, T., and the baby - this is the most important prayer request right now.  Pray for a hedge of angels around all of us involved.
  • Healthy good distractions for us while we wait.  OKC is a slow city.
  • Provision to continue our stay here... a month in a hotel is not cheap but so far God has provided in miraculous ways!!!  I should probably blog about that...
  • Justin's schoolwork - he is not motivated with school knowing there is a baby on the way!! :)
  • Healthy habits - we are all gaining weight!! :) HAHA!  Even with me & Justin running & working out.
  • Continuing our ability to room together while still maintaining good relationships :)
Thanks for your prayers. Missing you all!

  1. The last prayer request made me smile. I hear you. I just made trip plans with my mother over Thanksgiving, and I hope I can handle nine nights in an enclosed space. :-)

I think you need to get some Halloween candy to hand out at the hotel. Too bad you aren't stuck in Charleston. Thee is plenty to do, but I can't imagine that long in OKC.

Personally, I think a Halloween baby is perfect. Think of the cute parties you will have for Zane as he grows up.

  5. I have something excited to tell you, and I don't even know you. I posted the above post a couple of days ago about how I thought it would be neat to have a halloween baby. WEIRD... I got my wish. I just got my referral TODAY.. and I am getting two biological boys from Africa. The youngest turns one on October 27. I thought of that comment immediately. Maybe our babies will have the same birthday.
