We are in OKC!

Hi everybody.  Well, we are here!!!

In Oklahoma City to meet our baby-to-be.  Yesterday, I was working in the ER and Justin had the "mommy phone" (which is our designated phone for the birthmom).  He called me to tell me she had called him & said she was 2.5 cm dilated.  I said, "No big deal, people walk around dilated all the time".  An hour or so later, he called & said she said to come now......... I almost threw up.  And my ER girls started basically screaming... haha.

Her OBGYN told her at her appointment yesterday that she would go into labor yesterday or today.  So I left work, as did Justin, my mom, & his mom.  We packed bags like crazy people.  Yes, I had some things packed, but mostly I was unprepared.  :(  It took about 3 hours from the call to getting to the airport.

Oh, and we couldn't get the private jet after all.  It was in Virginia and not available.  :(  But that's ok!  They were extremely generous in paying for our plane tickets to OKC.  We arrived at RDU at 5pm, rushed around with an empty car seat that people kept staring at weirdly, and barely made our 6pm flight!  We had a layover in Chicago, only an hour, and had to change airlines and terminals!!  Needless to say, I got my run in yesterday.  We ran practically the whole way, and made it just in time to board our plane to OKC.  WHEW!

When we landed, we texted T. (the birthmom) and she said she was just leaving the hospital... they were sending her home!  She started having contractions about 5 minutes apart, went to the hospital, and they gave her something to stop the contractions :(  Not sure why, unless they think she's too early?  She's almost 36 weeks, and baby is weighing between 7 & 8 lbs right now.  I am thinking they might have gotten the due date wrong?!?!  Anyway, so she texted us again about 1:38 a.m., and my heart stopped for a second.  But it was this: "You tell your son one day that he gave me hell during labor!"  haha!!!  She said she wanted us to share in her labor experience :)  Poor thing, she was miserable for most of the night, but apparently fell asleep between 2 and 3 a.m.  So we are hoping to hear that the contractions have started back now!! :)

We are settled into our hotel, went & got some groceries for our rooms, as well as a few diapers, wipes, and other baby necessities that we didn't pack.  Our luggage finally arrived about an hour ago... oh yes, it never made it to OKC!  :(  My carry-on had everything I needed thankfully... The others are just glad to now be in clean clothes :)

So that's our update for now.  Waiting, waiting, waiting.  Hoping that she'll go back into labor soon, so we're not here for 2 weeks!!  :) Thanks for all your prayers & support, and I'll try to keep the blog updated! :)
